1. RESEARCH: A Seamless Handoff Approach of Mobile IPv6 Protocol for 3G/UMTS Wireless Cellular Networks Enabling mobility in IP networks is a significant issue for making use of portable devices appearing on the Internet. We would propose an approach to roam seamlessly in IPv6 networks by taking into consideration user's mobility profile,OPNET would be a great software tool to simulate and compare our new model to the ones already in use like MIPv6, HMIPv6, FMIPv6 and others. 2. RESEARCH: MPLS - Multiprotocol Label Switching In our research we will investigate the concept of Multiprotocol Label Switching which is a value-added IP services, not just transport. IP technologies give business the flexibility to distribute information to their customers, suppliers, remotes sites and industry partners, but renting a service provider infrastructure and expertise allows companies to focus on their primary business. MPLS is an innovative approach that uses a label-based forwarding paradigm. For this purpose we will define different parameters such as: LSR, Edge LSR, LSP, LVC, LDP and will model the enterprise network and the service provider network, analyse the traffic and QoS, demonstrating how MPLS enables highly scalable, intelligent layer 3 QoS, privacy, and any-to-any connectivity in either ATM or routed networks by using the OPNET software Module MPLS. For each of the types of service, models as well as traffic distributions will be proposed and implemented in Opnet. 3. RESEARCH: Quality of Service and Performance Issues in Integrated Multiservice Networks The explosive growth in bursty traffic changes the networks dynamics and requires a good evaluation of different classes of service when designing an access network. We would like to use Opnet to analyse the quality of service (QoS) and performance aspects of third-generation-wireless networks considered as different types of traffic are integrated on the same network. For these purposes, we will define QoS parameters and identify service types. For each of the types of service, models as well as traffic distributions will be proposed and implemented in Opnet. 4. RESEARCH: Simulation and Validation on IP Multicast, MPLS and AODV protocols Post doctoral research project undergoing in LARIM, is related to the performance evaluation (by means of simulations on OPNET modeler) of a new proposed topology based on rings in the context of many to many communications. The implementation of this scenario is based on MPLS technology which may facilitate the establishment of the ring links. A comparison study with existing models, namely native IP multicast and end host multicast will be undergone also. After all, we will implemented also the routing protocol such as AODV. 5.
